Why do we exist
For around 200 years the once commonly accepted doctrine of creation has been incrementally ousted by evolutionary theory. The end result is that current theories of natural science do not even consider creation science as a viable theory of origins. Darwinian evolution is regarded as fact. Current scientific inquiry deals only with its theoretical development. Further, the majority of the scientific community discounts the presence or influence of any supernatural processes, and therefore restricts itself solely to natural processes. While this is methodically justifiable, the scientific method is abandoned for the more flexible acceptance parameters of philosophy, if all possibilities to gain knowledge are limited to this way of thinking. The result of this arbitrary constriction of conclusions is an ideology instead of objective inquiry.
In the latter 20th century, under the collective term of creationism, creation scientists started a renewed effort to break the total domination of evolution theory in the scientific community. However, scientists who criticise evolution are in a difficult position. They have to start their research without the benefit of a large amount of current work. Established scientists take little notice of them, and if they do, they attack them both personally and emotionally instead of professionally discussing their ideas. Nevertheless, recently a remarkable rise of literature critical of Darwinian evolution has become more prominent giving credibility and motivation to reopen the debate and reestablish constructive discourse.
The issue of origins is still a major battle field involving both theistic and atheistic philosophies. An objective personal evaluation of the arguments is very difficult. Often the arguments are full of gaps and ad hominem type fallacies. Repeatedly, facts and interpretations are not separated clearly and honestly.
The authors hope these pages will contribute to an objective evaluation of the arguments for and against creation and evolution.
